Background
With more than 30 years of experience (25 years in Miami) in the development and administration of programs and services for adults, children, and families, Dr. Raymond has been extensively involved in all aspects of program and organizational management. She has worked, locally and internationally, in the arts & culture, education, environment, human services, and youth development.

Dr. Raymond’s in-depth experience working with, and within, nonprofit organizations, is enhanced by her advanced academic training. Dr. Raymond has a Ph.D. in Public Affairs (with a focus on nonprofit management), an M.S. in Adult Education/Human Resource Development, and a B.S. in Microbiology. Her dissertation research was on building the service delivery and management capacity of South Florida nonprofits.

In January 2005, Dr. Raymond founded her consulting practice to support South Florida nonprofits in their efforts to build their internal capacity to effectively plan for their future, manage their operations, and plan, implement, and evaluate their programs and services. Since launching her consulting practice, Dr. Raymond has worked with more than 100 local nonprofits to improve their results.

In addition to consulting with nonprofit organizations, Dr. Raymond has taught upper level undergraduate courses at University of Miami (program planning and evaluation, community consultation and leadership, and human service organizations) as well as graduate level courses at Florida International University (nonprofit management, strategic planning, and grant writing).

Methods
Dr. Raymond’s effectiveness in working with organizations stems from her practical expertise in programming and management, her knowledge of theory and methods, and her collaborative approach. In her work, Dr. Raymond employs a number of methods including individual or small group consultation and coaching as well as training workshops. She has worked with different audiences including staff (direct service and management), board members, program participants (children and adults), as well as other program stakeholders.

Knowledgeable of the realities of working in the local nonprofit sector, Dr. Raymond incorporates that understanding into her work so that methods and recommendations are appropriate. Since her aim is to increase staff and organizational capacity, her approach is collaborative, client-centered, and experiential.
